Basic

about

I made this track for the Rekkerd “A pictures is worth a thousand words”, contest. A contest in which you are supposed to pick an image you like and write a song around it. I will confess, I actually had the framework for this done long before the image or the contest, it however ended up getting put on the back burner and forgotten about. I ended up finding it again and thought that I should use it for the contest. So I got a basic concept I wanted the song to work around in my head, found an appropriate image for it and got to work.

The theme I went for is a computer trying to emulate organic, but still showing its true nature, especially in the drops. The title is just a holdover from when the track was just a sketch and I recorded myself saying “Yeah, so basically”. It just sort of stuck and BASIC is a programing language, which fits my theme, so I thought “why not”. The track was really fun to produce, I used some new techniques and ended up taking full advantage of FL’s Patcher. I also got a chance to use Native Instrument’s fantastic compressor, “Supercharger”. It works great as a bus compressor.

Yeah, so basically, I had a lot of fun making the song and I am really happy with how it came out.
